BREEDERS PRIZE
SHB(GB) In The North West BREEDERS PRIZE
In an attempt to acknowledge our breeders, we are looking for the outstanding horse of THE CURRENT YEAR.
The horse must have been bred in the North West and excelled itself or through its progeny, (i.e. stallion or brood mare) be it Point to Point, Racing, Show jumping, Eventing, Driving, Showing (In Hand or Ridden), or Long Distance.
A horse will be eligible for consideration providing it fulfils one of the following criteria-
The horse must be by an SHB(GB) graded or HIS approved stallion (depending on age),
OR
Out of a mare registered with SHB(GB)
This horse must have been bred in the North West area but not necessarily be owned by a person currently residing in the North West
The Committee will decide on the winner from your nomination.
Please help us to recognise the breeders of horses in the North West by nominating horses for this award.

2026 BREEDERS PRIZE WINNER
This year’s winner is Blue Delilah. Homebred by Michaela Bowling.
Out of SHB Head Stud book mare Coco Chanel by the prolific jumping stallion Chacco Blue.
Delila was showjumped by Michaela prior to covid gaining discovery / newcomer double clears. Due to Covid she was put in foal to Irish Mist, producing a lovely colt Johnny Gray – who will be making his novice worker debut this year as a 5yr old
2024 saw her debut in workers, although she not a typical type; she jumps well, is mannerly and gives a lovely ride and turned out be successful. Qualifying for RIHS 2024 and 2025. She has been placed in all her HOYS qualifiers. Qualifying at BSPS summer champs in 2024 and going on to jump a clear round, also taking on and cleared the Joker fence – only 2 other managed this. She finished 5th.
She qualified Newcomer and Foxhunter 2nd rounds in 2024 and 2025 as well as qualifying for the Blue-Chip championships. Last year she qualified for HOYS at Staffordshire County Show and she was 8th at HOYS.
Delilah has hunted with the Vale of Lune and Holcombe Harriers but is also happy to be lead round with my niece on board. She is hopefully going back in foal this year.
